| OBJECTIVE |
| The course aims to strengthen the capacity
of countries from the Asia-Pacific Regions
in vaccinology by providing participants with
a comprehensive overview of the vaccine continuum,
from vaccine development, evaluation and regulatory
principles, to production, post-licensure,
introduction and policy issues. |
| WHO SHOULD APPLY? |
| This course is for scientists and decision-makers
involved in vaccine development, in the elaboration
of new vaccination strategies or in policy
decisions related to the introduction of new
vaccines in public health programmes, at national
or international levels. It is relevant for
both the public and private sectors. |
| |
| For this year's course, eligible candidates
should come from countries in the World Health
Organization's South East and Western Pacific
Regions. Other candidates from the Eastern
Mediterranean Region will be given consideration. |
| LOCATION |
| The course will be held at International
Vaccine Institute, located at Seoul National
University (SNU) Research Park, Seoul, Korea. |
| Lodging will be arranged at
Hoam Faculty House (SNU) and in nearby hotels. |
| PROGRAMME FEE |
| Participants (35 places expected)
are asked to pay: |
| - A REGISTRATION FEE, including
full attendance in the course (6 days)
and the course material, US$1,500 |
| - AN ACCOMMODATION FEE, for
lodging, airport transportation, and
breaks and lunches, US$1,000 |

| GRANT APPLICATIONS |
| Fifteen fellowships granted by the
course organization will be available for
participants from developing countries. Application
for a grant has to be mentioned in the course
application form to be obtained upon request
from eykim@ivi.int. |
| SELECTION OF CANDIDATES |
| Participants will be selected by the Scientific
Advisory Committee, according to their: |
- Education background
- Current and potential involvement in
vaccinology
- Current and potential responsibility
and impact on vaccinology decisions
- Expected impact of the course at personal,
institutional and national levels
|
| Not more than 2 participants from the same
institute/company will normally be selected. |
| APPLICATION DEADLINE |
| Applications must be received at IVI by
20 March 2006. |
| Acceptance will be notified by the end of
March 2006, and inscription will be confirmed
after payment of the registration fee |
| WORKING LANGUAGE |
| The working language will be ENGLISH
and there will be no translation. |
| Participants must be able to fluently speak
English and to fully understand lectures given
in that language. |
